Supporting a Cause that Inspires
Hundreds of excited Whelen employees gathered outside the Chester, CT facility on May 31st to watch as local law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes, carrying the Flame of Hope, embarked on their leg of the 2023 Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run (CT LETR) for Special Olympics.
The CT LETR is an annual event that raises funds and awareness for the Special Olympics and is the largest public awareness and grass-roots fundraising event for the organization. The event brings together law enforcement officers, athletes, and community members in a show of solidarity and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The Torch Run covers thousands of miles across the state, culminating in lighting the Special Olympics cauldron at the opening ceremonies. Funds raised through the Torch Run event support a wide range of programs and initiatives that provide opportunities for athletes to compete, build friendships, and develop life skills.
Whelen has been a proud sponsor of the Connecticut Special Olympics for over 30 years, and part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for 18. “We’re thrilled to be part of such a meaningful event that brings people together for a fantastic cause,” said Geoff Marsh, CEO of Whelen. “The Law Enforcement Torch Run exemplifies the spirit of respect and inclusivity, and as a company committed to public safety, it’s an honor for us to support this event each year,” Marsh added.
The CT LETR for Special Olympics is an inspiring example of how businesses and organizations can come together to make a positive impact on their communities.
